What's the most adventurous thing you've done?
“Easy! Taking control at the wheel of a real, moving, freaking PLANE!”
What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
“Oh goshhhh! I feel bad just thinking about it but I have to admit I did get into it. Let me set the scene: 13years ago, backpacking in Mexico, there was a lovely lady offering something crunchy called 'Chapulines' with chilli and lime. I approached with an open mind… They were 'Grasshopers!' I found the idea revolting initially but I did go on to have a few more once I had got through the mental barrier!”
Where in the world would you most like to visit?
“Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, Cambodia, New Zealand...wait… did you mean we should only choose 1? That’s too hard.”
What three things would you take to a desert island?

What's the most adventurous thing you've done?
“Shortly after meeting Laura, I spent a month leading a group of 14 teenagers on an overseas expedition to Tanzania for World Challenge, culminating in a successful ascent of Mt Meru, Africa's second highest mountain.”
What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
“I'm slightly ashamed to say it now but aged 18 I lived in China for six months whilst teaching English as a foreign language. At our welcome banquet I was shocked when the main dish was revealed - turtle soup served in its shell. Being the guest of honour, the head was duly fished out and placed in my bowl. I still have harrowing memories of it bobbing around in the soup whilst everyone else at the table watched on expectantly for me to make a start.”
Where in the world would you most like to visit?
“Well, assuming Laura will invite me to join her in Bhutan, which is a country for which I feel a great calling too, I'd probably choose closer to home and head to Scotland. I feel that I've only scratched the surface so far and would love to go deeper, exploring its remote islands, mountains and wilder parts. Another big bucket list goal is to walk the Appalachian Trail, but at 2200 miles, that might to wait a little longer! “
What three things would you take to a desert island?
“1 - My mountain bike,
2- Trail running shoes
3 - A build-your-own micro-brewery kit.”
(Although the practical side of me couldn't go without a folding saw and axe too!)
